Welcome to Before We Are Forgotten: The Brumby Family.
I created this web site to help descendants of Brumbys around the world find a little bit more about where their line has come from. It is by no means complete, far from it, and will continue to grow as I find further information to add.
I would ask that if you do use information from this site for your own records, please bear in mind that family history is not an exact science and things will change as information is confirmed or discounted. The information I have placed on this site is for all Brumbys and I ask only one thing in return for it, if you can contribute to our history, please do so.
If you have any questions or comments about the information on this site, or you just want to say "hello", you can either write in my Guest Book, or if you prefer, send me an e-mail.
I look forward to hearing from you and I hope this web site helps you find what you are looking for.

The name Brumby is believed to be one of the oldest surnames in England, estimated at around 1130 years old. It is Old Norse in origin and, as most surnames, is derived from a place of settlement, in this case the small Danish settlement of Brumby in the ancient Angle Kingdom of Lindsey, what is now the north west of Lincolnshire. The settlement of Brumby is thought to have originally been made by agreement between Danish raiders and the Angles of Lindsey around the years A.D. 874 - 877.
